Under the general supervision of the assigned leader and clinical supervision of a licensed physician, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will diagnose and treat health conditions, as well as promote good health practices ensuring the best patient care possible. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Conducting physical examinationsInterpreting lab testsOverseeing patients' healthSupporting disease prevention practicesHelping people lead healthy livesExamining patients and their medical recordsOrdering and studying diagnostic tests (blood tests, X-rays, etc.)Diagnosing health conditions and illnessesProposing treatments for chronic and infectious diseasesPrescribing medicationsMaintaining accurate records and schedulesInforming patients about their health conditions and prescribed medicationsEducating patients and their family members on diseases, epidemics, and preventionOverseeing patients' overall healthWorking collaboratively with physician counterparts to manage the health care needs for specified patient populationsFunctioning as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate efforts that maximize clinical and financial outcomesAbility to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail) is required. Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying, and similar operations are required upon employment or within the first two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards.
