Summary/ObjectiveThe function of this position is to manage the execution and coordination of Design projects in coordination with Design Manager and/or Salesperson/Account Manager. In this role, advanced software experience is required. This position will hold responsibilities in the areas of facility planning, drafting/CAD, furniture and finish selection, color and materials application, as well as graphic and verbal presentations. Additional expectations include an advanced understanding of design software as well the ability to mentor and train Junior Designers.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESCreate drawings in AutoCAD and/or CET (typicals, furniture plans, 3D’s)Check other designers specificationsConsistent updates to Design ManagerContinuous project updates with sales teamMaintenance of internal reporting systems, i.e. time sheets and project filesAdhere to deadlines of key deliverablesPrepare installation drawings and supporting documents (specs)Identify areas that need field verification and coordinate actual dimensions with final planInventory existing product; incorporate in furniture plans and specificationsCreate sample boardsContinuing education related to product updates and industry trendsFinish selectionCreate specifications and .sif files (including key schedules and tagging)Revise drawings and specs (including .sif) when requiredAssist with budget pricingQualifications
Interior Design Degree from accredited University3-5 years industry experienceSome CAP and/or CET experienceProficient in AutoCADProven organizational and follow-through skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work hours as needed to support team and meet customer expectationsTrain and/or mentor other designersProblem-solving skills and attention to detail. Spec accuracy is expected.Knowledge of the Building Codes, especially the Accessibility Code.Creativity is a must. Designer must support the customer and sales staff in the selection of furniture pieces, colors, fabrics and materials, to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.Taking an active role during client presentations to provide quick solutions on the go.Minimum knowledge of construction and construction sites. Site visits, field measurements, and meetings with contractors may be required. Coordination with other trades is required.Ability to create functional and efficient space planning.Initiative for self-training, consulting the available literature to learn and understand furniture and systems on a daily basis.
