Natural Resource Conservationist
LOCATION:
Soil and Water
DUTIES:
Will carry out several coordinated soil and water conservation programs.
Is responsible for scheduling time to provide technical services needed to address a wide variety of environmental and natural resource related issues to the residents of Pamlico County.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Pamlico County SWCD Board of Supervisors.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the practices and principles of natural resource conservation and management.
Knowledge of the normal to complex practices and principles of bench level surveys and note keeping, including photography by camera and by drone for the purpose of record keeping.
Skill in the use of surveying and computer equipment.
Ability to recognize soil types and to determine its capabilities or limitations for various uses.
Ability to interpret land uses and features on a variety of aerial photographs and maps.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a four year college or university in a Natural Resources field with one year of field experience;
or graduation from a two year college or university in a natural resources related field and three years of directly related experience to agriculture and/or the conservation of natural resources;
or graduation from high school and five years of experience in a field related to agriculture and/or the conservation of natural resources;
or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Driver's License is required.
