Job Summary:
The President & CEO (“CEO”) is responsible for promoting the mission of the Oklahoma Arts Institute (“OAI”) through the strategic oversight and management of all program, fundraising, alumni, marketing and public relations efforts, as well as the administration and finances of the organization and its supporting organization, the Oklahoma Arts Institute Foundation. The CEO reports to the Oklahoma Arts Institute’s board of directors and serves as a member of the board of directors of the OAI Foundation.
Essential Functions:
• Oversee the day-to-day office and personnel management, as well as contractual obligations, insurance needs and legal compliance for the organization. Candidate should be skilled at managing teams and output, developing job roles, training leaders, and sustaining a culture of efficiency, ownership and belonging. Serve as principal spokesperson for the organization.
• Support the administrative functions of the boards of directors of the Oklahoma Arts Institute and the OAI Foundation, including oversight of long-range planning activities.
• In coordination with the Director of Programs, plan and direct all OAI programs. Responsibilities include attending all programs, coordinating site needs with site personnel, and managing faculty, staff and participant/student matters, as well as parent/guardian communications. Candidate must enjoy and prioritize working with youth, educators, volunteers, seasonal staff, and cursory staff in a high-paced, community driven environment.
• In coordination with the Director of Finance, oversee the finances of the organization and the OAI Foundation, including preparation and oversight of the annual budget, monthly reporting activities, and annual audits and tax returns; coordinate oversight of the OAI Foundation endowment by the Investment Committee and outside endowment managers.
• In coordination with the Director of Development, plan and direct development and fundraising activities to ensure sufficient revenue to support OAI’s programming and operational needs.
• Oversee public relations, marketing and communications efforts throughout the state to ensure diverse participation in OAI’s programs, as well as continued support by foundations, corporations, individuals and state partners.
• Effectively communicate the goals and needs of OAI to state partners, including the Oklahoma Legislature, State Departments of Education and Tourism, and the Oklahoma Arts Council.
• Operationalize and execute the recent (2024) strategic plan with a focus on addressing facility needs at Quartz Mountain, increasing revenue, and continued audition and application growth from underserved or underrepresented populations.
• Together with stakeholders, plan and execute the 50th Anniversary season with special programs, projects, and commissions to mark the occasion (much of this work already underway).
• Oversee and manage the OAI art collection, procure storage, conservation, and exhibition opportunities with museums or comparable organizations.
