About the Team

We are seeking a skilled software engineer who is both strong in C++ and has experience building user interfaces. To help maintain and build out our catalog of native TV applications, the senior software engineer will engage stakeholders, assist in architecture design, and mentor junior engineers to help meet product goals. The individual contributor will report to a Staff Software Engineer. We are a close-knit team, focused on solving challenging problems that make a difference in our business. We concentrate on high-impact, high-value development, and in this role, you’ll be delivering the software that helps us grow. We pride ourselves on working in a collaborative environment, and to do so we are in our Dallas office 5 days a week.

What You Will Do• Encouraging Quality:

Encourage robust software through practices such as automated testing, code review, and documentation of changes.• Organization:

Be able to communicate efficiently with other internal software teams, and to communicate effectively with product management and business teams.• Building Trust:

We are looking for someone who can help bring new ideas to the table to give as much value as possible to our new and existing customers' user experience.• By 3 months:

You will have a basic understanding of the software systems required to function independently. You’ve gained trust from your team to be able to contribute to organizational meetings.• By 6 months:

You’ve established a good rapport with your team. You’ve positively impacted your team’s ability to reach goals in testing, documentation, and code quality while completing your work in a timely manner.• By 1 year:

You have developed a robust understanding of VIZIO’s products. You will be contributing to software design at a high level, along with guiding more junior developers on best practices. You will have the full trust of the team to execute your tasks on time with superior quality of work.

About You• Minimum education requirement is a High School Diploma or GED.• 2+ years implementing user interfaces for Consumer Electronics.• Proficient in C++.• Preferred: Experience in game design/building game engines.• Care for attention to detail and a polished user experience that will delight users.• Great written and verbal communicator: you’re able to effectively communicate abstract ideas, bridge gaps in understanding between teams, and communicate to create a shared vision.• Ability to help identify ways to streamline productivity and efficiency with existing processes.
