Role SummaryResponsible for releasing components and/or calibrations into the GM parts releasing systems, executing and evaluating designs, performing analysis, development, and testing of engineering projects in the area of automotive infotainment systems. Assists the GM Global Lead DRE as directed.Key ResponsibilitiesInterfaces with GM vehicle platform teams globallyInterfaces with GM engineering departments globallySupports the management of requirements and specificationsSupports the build and test of benches and vehiclesReleases parts into the GM parts releasing systemsManages part changes in the GM parts releasing systemsDefines, implements, and releases calibration filesDevelops and implements engineering changesPlans and implements test and/or development programsPerforms issue identification and resolutionSupports vehicle assembly plant operationsRequired Skills and ExperienceMinimum of 4 years of automotive electrical/electronics/software engineering experienceMinimum of 2 years of automotive component release experienceIn-depth knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (CAN, GMLAN, LIN, ETHERNET)In-depth knowledge of verification and validation process (component-, bench-, vehicle-level)Understanding of hardware design and failure modesUnderstanding of vehicle safety requirements (e.g., FMVSS, etc.)Results driven individual with high levels of initiative and proactivityHigh level of oral and written communication skillsExhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with Global business partners to meet mutual goalsHigh level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complexDemonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areaDemonstrates creativity and initiative as well as a high level of independent judgment.Preferred Skills and Experience2+ years experience releasing parts into GM’s G-PDS5+ years experience working with current automotive infotainment systems including Navigation, GPS, Bluetooth, USB, Speech Recognition, Microphones, Hands-free Processing and Audio Management, Displays and HMI, Camera and Video Management, AM/FM/XM Receivers/Tuners, Internet Apps, incl. Internet Radio, Media Players, Text to Speech, System and Power Management, Phone, Data Carrier, and Data DownloadsEducation and TrainingMinimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering.
