Performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine imaging and emergency procedures. Exercises judgment to assess and respond to patient's needs prior to, during and after visit to the nuclear medicine department. Provides for proper comfort, care, and safety of the patient prior to, during, and after procedures. Evaluates and maintains quality control program for instrumentation to ensure its credibility and reliability. Utilizes appropriate technique to ensure quality diagnostic images and/or laboratory results. Involved in procurement, preparation, quality control, calculation, identification, documentation, administration, disposal, storage, and safe handling of radiopharmaceuticals. Assists the authorized users in the application and management of therapeutic radionuclide treatment. Educates the public, and uses techniques that will minimize radiation exposure to the patient, general public, and health care personnel consistent with the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) concept. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Participates in staff/student orientation and training. May transport non-narcotic medications as directed. Required to participate in "on-call" rotation as determined by specific department needs.Requirements
Educational Requirements
Graduation from Accredited Nuclear Medicine Program or acceptable equivalent schooling.Experience Requirements
No Experience Required.State of Florida Licensure Requirements
Nuclear Medicine Technologist License - Required.Certifications/Registration Requirements
