South Coastal Counties Legal Services, Inc. (SCCLS), is the leading legal services program in Southeastern Massachusetts providing free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income clients with eighty staff across four locations. Our core mission is to achieve justice for clients through community based advocacy. We prioritize legal services in domestic relations, housing, benefits, elder law, employment, education, consumer and immigration. Under new leadership, the organization is undergoing a period of growth and innovation.This position is in our newly opened Brockton office. Brockton enjoys easy access by car and commuter rail from both the Metro Boston area and Southeastern Mass. Brockton is a majority non-white city and has a vibrant community which includes many people from Cape Verde and Haiti.This office is embedded in the community and will use trauma informed holistic representation to work towards equity for our clients and in the systems that touch their lives. We are seeking an experienced family law attorney to support our work focusing on domestic violence.Duties Include :

This Attorney primarily will represent eligible clients in family law matters where domestic violence is involved. This position requires providing high quality legal representation; collaborating with and supporting other casehandlers; engaging in outreach and community education; engaging in systemic advocacy, including with engaging with the statewide network of advocates representing clients experiencing domestic violence; and supporting the organizations work on grants.Qualifications:

Admitted in MA or eligible for admission; prior family law experience required;Experience representing vulnerable populations desirable; commitment to working with clients who may have experienced domestic violence, poverty, trauma or discrimination required;Ability to work independently and as a team member; goal and detail oriented with ability to prioritize; ability to be flexible and multi-task; supervisory and/or leadership experience desirable;Commitment to race equity, anti-racism and economic justice in the workplace and in providing legal services;Ability to engage effectively in person and remotely with people from diverse cultures, diverse opinions and values, including staff, volunteers, students, community members and funders;Creativity in using the law to meet the needs of clients and communitiesFluency in a second language which reflects our client communities (Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Khmer) preferred;Compensation and Benefits:

SCCLS offers competitive compensation based on comparable public interest salaries and commensurate with experience. Multi-lingual annual increment to base salary may be added for demonstrated language skills. Generous benefits and leave offered.Apply:
