We fully support work flexibility including remote and hybrid work arrangements.About the roleAt Vantage, the Associate Underwriter is a member of our Political Risk & Credit team. This is a developmental Underwriting role responsible for supporting the team through underwriting and administrating tasks related to existing policy maintenance according to authority level and established guidelines as well as to support the team with research, analysis, and other tasks. This role is a hybrid opportunity with at least three days a week in-person in Vantage’s Alexandria, VA office.The base salary expectation for this role is between $70,000 and $95,000. The actual base salary and title for the selected candidate may be higher, commensurate with the candidate's experience and expectations. Additionally, Vantage offers its colleagues performance-based bonus potential, strong health & welfare benefits, retirement plans with company match, competitive time off plans, a highly flexible work environment, and much more.Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesPerform underwriting support activities associated with the management of all underwriting transactions, service standards and compliance rules and documentation.Develop proficiency in basic underwriting analysis, file preparation and report assessment.Provide accurate support for new business submissions and existing policies.Producing non-binding indications, and endorsements for the Underwriters.Issuing new business and servicing existing policies as instructed by the underwriting team.Reviewing policy maintenance endorsements to ensure alignment with risk appetite and business strategy.Analyze complex risks and unusual transaction structures thoroughly and effectively.Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging internal and external contacts.Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.Learn and develop Insurance and underwriting knowledge, skills, and capabilities.Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments.Meet departmental service standards in place for each process.Perform other duties and special projects as assigned under minimal supervision.Develop and Build Continued Education in Risk Management and P&C Insurance.As a new company, we fully acknowledge the scope of each colleague’s job will change over time. Vantage expects all colleagues to be flexible and understand that responsibilities and accountabilities will morph and change.Ideal Candidate ProfileBachelor’s degree preferred.0 to 2 years insurance/ finance industry experience preferred.Knowledge of insurance industry and underwriting.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment.
