Job Description

The Network Engineer (NE) will report to the CTO. The role of the Network Engineer is to support the design, implementation and operations of Metro Area Networks (MAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Networks and the implementation and administration of firewalls and firewall rule policies.Position Responsibilities:Assist in the designs and implementation of MANs including DWDM systems, network switches, network routers at internal and client facilities, data centers and network hub locations.Provide technical support to customers, product specialists, and consultants regarding networks/systems.Coordinate and perform on-site customer work including network equipment configuration, installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance.Resolve first-level and second-level customer problems and answer questions. Resolve issues and escalate as appropriate.Serve as liaison between the company and customers. Convey customer feedback to technical design and engineering staff.Serve as the customer service focal point during the projects and for a defined time period following completion.Complete existing project task lists with dates and responsibilities to ensure execution of each task.Maintain relationships with the customer project team members and various departments and individuals.Assist with problem resolution as required by applying personal experience in combination with various vendors and networks.Assist with training new staff members.Prepare statements of work for upcoming installations.Install and configure necessary network monitoring and management devices.Maintain documentation regarding network configurations, operating procedures and service records relating to hardware and software.Assist with network design and implementation of firewalls and apply firewall policies and rule sets to multiple systems with impeccable documentation.Participate in after business hour support and incident response escalations.Work with colleagues to meet team goals and improve processes and practices.Qualifications

Knowledge and experience configuring and operating Cisco & Juniper switches and routers. CCIE, CCNP and Juniper certifications preferred.Experience administering firewall policies on multiple platforms: Palo Alto, Juniper & Cisco, Fortinet.Experience with configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and supporting network equipment, wireless access points, firewall policies across different platforms.Detail-oriented and organized.Excellent client relationship skills.Excellent documentation skills using Microsoft Office and Visio.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work early mornings and/or late nights to execute critical network changes.Ability to learn new and unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources.Works well in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines for deliverables.Additional Information
