Jun 27, 2024Profile:A law firm in Washington D.C. is seeking an experienced International Trade Associate Attorney (Customs) with a strong background in customs and import controls laws. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience to support the firm's International Trade practice.Duties:Advise and counsel clients on customs and import controls matters, including tariff classification, valuation and transfer pricing, audits, forced labor compliance, and customs enforcement of antidumping and countervailing duty orders.Manage related projects effectively, ensuring timely and efficient completion.Provide expertise in free trade agreements and related rules of origin, fraud and penalty investigations, binding rulings, customs litigation, and customs enforcement of other agency requirements (e.g., EPA, NHTSA, F&WS), customs legislation, and/or drawback.Requirements:Substantial experience in customs and import controls laws.Stellar academic credentials.3-5 years of relevant experience supporting International Trade practice.Experience in federal government at U.S. Customs & Border Protection or Homeland Security Investigations preferred.Private sector and/or government experience in customs and import controls laws required.Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the Washington D.C. Bar (or ability to waive in).Skills:Deep understanding of laws and policies governing customs and import controls.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
