Description:The Database Developer is responsible for building, debugging, maintaining, and enhancing the marketing databases we create and manage for our clients. Responsibilities will include ETL development, business rules implementations and automation, and data quality stewardship. This person will develop deep domain expertise with our clients' data and must learn to use their domain knowledge to assemble complex data sets from our relational models.
Databases are primarily built using Microsoft SQL Server, Transact-SQL code, and SQL-CLR.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create batch processes (ETL) for conversion of operational and transactional data into relational marketing databases, leveraging existing agency components/code library.Develop and debug SQL stored procedures that translate business rules/needs into appropriately scoped, well-documented code.Data hygiene as necessary to load/unload data. Responsible for handling referential integrity exceptions and data outliers.Apply effective problem-solving skills: try different approaches to solve a problem, demonstrate tenacity to complete challenging tasks.Proactively report progress. Know when to ask questions. Recognize urgency of requests and accommodate change requests. Able to manage multiple tasks/priorities.Interest in marketing is essential.Requirements:
3 - 5 years relational database design and developmentStrong SQL (multiple table joins, correlated sub-queries, aliasing, etc.)Strong T-SQL (stored procedures, functions, temp tables, variable declaration, looping, branching, error trapping, logging, common table expressions, etc.)ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE A PLUS:
Direct marketing or advertising/mediaExperience with Big Data / VLDBs (our database tables frequently exceed millions of rows)ENVIRONMENT:
Fast-paced environment with short delivery timesExcellent verbal and written communication skills requiredAble to interact with our agency projectSelf-starterAbility to manage projects independently and with minimal supervisionBenefits:
