Description
Nuclear Medicine Technology is a medical specialty that utilizes radioactive materials to make diagnostic evaluations of the anatomic and/or physiologic conditions of the human body and to provide therapeutic treatment with unsealed radioactive sources.
Under the direction of a licensed authorized user or license designee, you will apply the art and skill of diagnostic evaluation and therapeutics for all ages through safe and effective use of radionuclides.
You will provide support to multiple sites, including but not limited to Westwood, Santa Monica, and Santa Clarita as requested by the chief technologist, according to business need.In this role, you will apply knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to limit radiation exposure of the general public, patients, fellow workers, and self to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Patient interviews, instruction, and carePreparation, quality control, calibration, and administration of radiopharmaceutical compoundsHandling/preparation/witnessing and administration (under direct MD supervision) of adjunctive medicationsExecution of patient imaging and therapeutic procedures including computer processing and image enhancementLaboratory testingSalary range: $58.46 - $77.11 / HourlyQualifications
Ability to set priorities to multiple tasks, shifting demands, deadlines, and a heavy workload.Ability to work with self-initiative and minimum supervision in the performance of nuclear medicine procedures.Interpersonal skills to relate to patients of all age groups or their families with sensitivity and compassion.Interpersonal skills to work as part of a medical team by establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with physicians, medical staff, colleagues, co-workers, patients, and the public.Reading skills to understand patient records, forms, technical procedures, and policy manuals, and other related documents written in standard English.Speaking skill to collect and clearly convey information to people of various educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds using tact, diplomacy, correct grammar, and vocabulary.Valid Certifications as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with either the Nuclear Medicine Technology Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Valid licensure in Nuclear Medicine Technology by the Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch, State of California.Writing skills to maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records and logs.Working knowledge of the above listed equipment.Scintillation Gamma and PET CamerasMulti-Modality CamerasSPECT/CT, PET, and/or PET/CTCameras integrated with Computer Acquisition Processing, and/or Image Fusion TerminalsDose CalibratorsGM Survey MetersArea MonitorsIon ChambersMac and PC ComputersCentrifuge and Scintillation Well CounterFume HoodsTreadmill and Vital Signs Monitors (EKG and BP)Various software, including but not limited to Pinestar Database, IDX, Essentris, Centricity (GE PACS), and Fusion Imaging.
