The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County seeks an attorney with a passion for economic justice and immigrants’ rights to join our LIBRE Project. LIBRE (www.thelibreproject.org) is a multi-agency collaboration that educates immigrants and their families about their rights and eligibility for safety net benefits and immigration relief, and provides legal advocacy on their behalf.Organization: LASSMC (www.legalaidsmc.org) is a dynamic and collegial non-profit law firm whose mission is to fight social injustice through civil legal advocacy for people living in poverty. A non-LSC funded legal services program with a 60-year history of collaboration and innovative programs, LASSMC can engage in class action litigation and provide assistance regardless of immigration status.Responsibilities:Advise and represent low-income San Mateo County immigrants and their families on immigration relief and access to safety net benefits.With community partners, educate low-income immigrants about their rights, potential immigration remedies, and eligibility for safety net benefits.Required Qualifications:Active membership in the California State BarExcellent communication skillsWell-organized and detail-orientedAbility to drive and access to an automobilePreferred:Oral and written fluency in SpanishSalary:
Salary starts at $70,000 and adjusts for experience. $2,500 stipend for proficiency in Spanish or another language spoken by our client community. Excellent benefits including up to $3,600/year law school loan repayment assistance.To Apply:
