Designs and oversees nursing and administrative operations in large patient care areas. Accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of the staffing, fiscal and material resources. Assists with the development and implementation of new programs and policies. Direct reports are typically supervisors, nurses, unit coordinators, and patient care technicians.The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) is a 58-bed mixed acuity unit caring for the most complex diagnosis and surgical care in the neonate population. Nurses are integral members of the interdisciplinary teams for these services and care for neonates and their families. This position serves as a role model for professional nursing practice.Administratively responsible for ensuring the quality of patient care in the ICN. Maintains twenty-four-hour line management and responsibility for the administration of personnel, fiscal and material resources. Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors.Responsibilities:

Plans, develops, and directs patient care system to assure safe, efficient and coordinated care for the neonatal population.Responsible for over 188 FTE.Directs and administers specific medical center activities associated with clinical services.Provides strategic and operational planning and management including implementation of operating systems and procedures and ongoing evaluations of programs and activities.Plans, implements and accountable for annual operative and capital budgets for areas of responsibility.Supports UCSF's overall mission to provide high quality patient care, teaching, and research.Ensures development and maintenance of clinical practice standards and compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements.Represents patient care group in relevant activities of finance, committees, clinical resource management, information systems and other components of clinical enterprise.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
