MEMBERS ONLY , the Chief Medical Officer will facilitate physician leadership to support and enhance:Quality and patient safety (including culture)Utilize available information and analyze data to plan, recommend and direct opportunities to evaluate utilization of hospital resources and facilitate Medical Staff changes in practice to achieve expected clinical outcomes and improve organizational financial viabilityCoordinate changes in care based on evidence-based clinical guidelines that support positive outcomes for patients, including physician education and development/revision of standard order setsWork closely with Duke in developing quality initiatives to ensure safe patient careRegularly meet with CMO of Duke LifePoint to review initiatives and discuss opportunities for improvementActively engaged in antibiotic stewardship program developmentWork with HSC on initiatives relating to medical staff such as surgical consent form and EMTALA form standardizationParticipate in regularly scheduled Duke LifePoint Clinical Engagement meetingsClinical insight into strategic planningMember of Senior Leadership Team reporting to CEO of hospital with dotted line reporting to CMO of Duke LifePoint as well as CMO of LifePoint HealthAssist hospital in assuring compliance with standards of regulatory agenciesAssist with surveys and issues related to The Joint Commission and North Carolina State Health DepartmentWork with leadership team in development of new service lines or enhancement of current onesHelp drive development and growth of GME program at Maria ParhamClinical insight into operations (specially to drive efficient patient flow)Work collaboratively with CEO, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Assistant Administrator keeping them aware of trends, innovations and opportunities that support strategic direction of hospital as they relate to the Medical StaffParticipate in Executive Patient Safety Rounds with all hospital departmentsParticipate in Interdisciplinary Team Rounds as appropriateWork with Medical Staff Office to ensure proper and efficient process for provider credentialing and privilegingPhysician alignment and engagement (including support of medical staff governance)Serve as liaison between Medical Staff, team members, patients, and familiesAdvise Medical Staff regarding necessary changes in By-laws and Rules and RegulationsFacilitate coordination of Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) programsEducate providers regarding disruptive behavior and ensure that any such behavior is addressed timelyWork with medical staff leaders to help address medical staff issues as they ariseAssist with recruitment of physicians as appropriateParticipate in monthly LifePoint Chief Medical Officer conference calls and share appropriate information from calls with medical staff and organizationActive engagement in all medical staff committeesPopulation health strategy and performance (including leadership in DCC)Active involvement in the leadership of Duke Connected Care ACO and Duke Clinically Integrated Network as they relate to
