Electrolux North America (ENA) is recruiting for an experienced attorney with a proven record of client service and a practical, problem-solving approach to providing legal services to join its team as an Associate General Counsel at the Electrolux Group’s North American headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. The AGC will report to ENA's General Counsel and the Head of IP Legal (located at AB Electrolux corporate headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden) and will provide legal advice and services in support of ENA’s and its affiliates’ (“Electrolux”) Intellectual Property, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and other IP. The AGC will assist in protecting Electrolux's legal and ethical interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law by providing hands-on counsel to all levels of staff, and identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, presenting clear recommendations to top management, and assuring legal compliance.The North American Legal Department supports and partners closely with Electrolux's operational and functional departments, and the AGC must build effective relationships with the people in these departments, as well as Electrolux's customers and vendors. ENA lawyers develop an in-depth understanding of Electrolux's mission and operational goals, participate in strategic planning, find innovative solutions to our clients’ needs, and strive to provide the most efficient, practical, and timely advice possible. There is no “typical day” – every day is a different challenge.What you’ll do:Deploy the midterm aspects of the People Plan, as aligned with HR Strategy.Provide day-to-day legal counsel on matters related to trademarks, patents, copyrights, IP-related litigation, and other IP matters to senior executives, senior management and other levels of staff within Electrolux.Serve as the primary business partner to our global licensing group related to North American activities and/or the Frigidaire and other ENA-owned brands, including reviewing license agreements and amendments and providing advice and counsel on various trademark and other related matters.Manage all US and Canadian litigation and disputes relating to ENA-owned IP.Support US and Canadian litigation and disputes relating to centrally owned IP in cooperation with the global IP Legal team.Handle inquiries and allegations related to patent infringement, including developing strategies to address allegations from patent trolls and other NPEs.Work with Electrolux Group’s patent team, including patent attorneys, engineers, and other staff, to help shape the patent portfolio for enforcement purposes.Exercise good commercial judgment to understand business needs and provide appropriate and responsive legal support.Act as internal clients’ trusted colleague who coordinates strategy in line with legal requirements and the company's risk tolerance.Assure corporate and regulatory compliance.Manage risk identification and mitigation.Cultivate a highly collaborative culture with colleagues in the legal department and other key functions.Work cross-functionally with stakeholders in a variety of different departments, facilities, and countries.Develop and continuously improve legal operations, department processes, and policies.Ensure that legal services provided to Electrolux are competent and cost-effective.Minimum Qualifications:Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution. Must be in active and good standing with at least one State bar.Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in IP management, with a focus on trademarks and IP litigation.Demonstrated success counseling clients and managing IP, including development of IP strategy, with a top tier law firm and in-house legal setting, together with a work history marked by few transitions and a demonstrated record of growth and increased levels of responsibilities.Must have significant experience drafting and negotiating a broad variety of IP-related documents, including trademark and copyright registrations, patent clearances, patent prosecutions, and all manner of IP litigation-related documents.Several corporate transactions and disputes may be cross-border in nature; so prior international experience and exposure to different legal systems is preferred.Must be able to work independently, and handle both small and large matters with equal effectiveness and enthusiasm.Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing business and legal objectives, be willing to adapt to change, as well as being capable of driving change.Some domestic and international travel required.Where you’ll be:This position will be based at our North American Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.Benefits highlights:Medical benefits start day one.Generous 401K match.Tuition reimbursement opportunities.As part of Electrolux, we will continuously invest in you and your development.
