The Aquatics Transitional Coach (TC-AQ) will work under the supervision and direction of the Workforce Development Program (WDP) Director as part of an inter-agency team to coordinate with local Community-Based Organizations and schools to provide aquatic life skills workshops and certifications. The TC-AQ will provide aquatic certification trainings and case-management services to Transitional Age Youth (TAY) and Teens, including coaching and instruction in swim skills development, delivery of lifeguard training, delivery of CPR/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen delivery certifications, referrals to appropriate resources and therapeutic support. The TC-AQ will develop success plans, case management plans, and transition plans including intake needs and risk assessment, service plan, ongoing progress notes, and retention plan in conjunction with the Workforce Development Transitional Coach. All paperwork will be completed and submitted in a timely fashion.This position is scheduled to work 15 hours per week, with the opportunity to combine this position with other positions to become full time.Minimum Qualifications
21+ years oldHigh School Diploma or equivalentAble to work weekends and evenings during program timesMust have strong facilitation and classroom management skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to operate various training and data tracking systems including LCDC, American Red Cross Course Record Entry, CMS, Salesforce, Workforce Central, and EMSKnowledge of youth development practices and conflict mediation2+ years aquatic experienceFamiliarity working with schools and/or community-based agenciesProven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socio-economic, educational, religious, sexual and generational backgroundsMust be highly motivated to provide quality after school opportunities to youthAt least 2 years’ experience working with high school students or transitional age youth preferably in workforce developmentLifeguard Certification, YMCA approved CPR/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen certificationComplete required trainings for role within 60 days Youth Development Modules, Listen First, FCDI – Career Development FacilitatorYGSF Mandatory Compliance Trainings before first shift in role (no more than 14 days after hire)Preferred Skills & Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience in a related fieldAquatics training experience preferredBi-lingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese and English)All employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors.
