The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Language Arts. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions include the following:Teach courses offered in the Filipino curriculum.Assist in curriculum revisions and new course development.Consult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hours.Maintain expertise in current practice and technologies.Serve as a member of division and college committees.Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.Minimum Qualifications
• Possession of a Master’s in Filipino (Tagalog) language OR Bachelor’s in Filipino (Tagalog) AND Master’s in another language or linguistics OR the equivalent.• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preference will be given to candidates who:Have a native-level grasp of the Filipino language and the ability to teach the full range of community college courses in Filipino.Have recent successful experience in teaching or preparation to teach both developmental and college-transfer level courses in Filipino (Tagalog).Conditions of Employment
Prior to employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:Submit official transcripts.Submit verifications of prior employment.Satisfactory references.Successfully complete a background check.Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.EEO Statement
