Postdoctoral Researcher in Coupled Climate Dynamics – UC Santa Barbara

The Stevenson Lab in the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is recruiting a postdoctoral research scientist to work on questions related to climate variability and change, and the associated influences on marine and/or terrestrial environments.Examples of potential projects include:Dynamics of drought events in future climate change scenariosPhysical controls on the response of the El Nino/Southern Oscillation to external forcingImproving constraints on past tropical variability using paleoclimate proxy information.Postdoctoral researchers may also work with the PI to develop new research projects.Basic Qualification:

A PhD in atmospheric, oceanic, or climate science or a related field is required by the time of appointment.Additional:

Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and programming in R, Matlab, Python, NCL, and/or FORTRAN.Desirable:

Candidates with experience working with output from and conducting simulations with ocean and/or climate models will be given preferred consideration.The initial term of the appointment will be 12 months, with the possibility of subsequent extension based on performance and availability of funding.Applications completed on or before
