Job DescriptionTax Senior Accountant

POSITION SUMMARYAs a Tax Senior Accountant, you will plan and supervise a wide variety of engagements and work to develop quality relationships with the firm’s clients. You will have the opportunity to progress and assume responsibility for effectively supervising engagements from initial planning through to the delivery to the client. You will also build your skills in supervising, coaching, training and mentoring Staff Accountants in a collaborative working environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, supervise and complete routine tax and accounting engagementsGain experience in building and managing client relationshipsDevelop analytical and problem-solving skills to assist clients in resolving issuesPrepare corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax returns with minimum supervisionReview tax returns, workpapers and other documents prepared by othersCompile and review financial statements for partner reviewAs you gain experience, you will progress to assume responsibility for efficiently supervising all forms of financial statement engagementsManage your time and projects and use effective prioritization and communication to manage staff workloads and complete multiple assignments in a timely mannerEffectively supervise, coach, train and mentor Staff Accountants

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESAs a Tax Senior Accountant, having the following knowledge, skills and abilities will give you the best chance to succeed in this position:Technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accounts on financial statement audit, review and compilation engagements, as well as in the preparation of complex income tax returns.Experience in preparing a wide variety of tax returns, and experience reviewing the work of othersFamiliarity with pertinent Internal Revenue Code sections and regulations, research techniques, and the various research sources available.Thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniquesStrong knowledge of GAAP, OCBOA unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentation and disclosureDemonstrated proficiency in the use of firm standard software, such as Lacerte, ProSystems FX, ExcelExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive informationDemonstrated ability to work both independently and with a teamAbility to manage multiple projects, assignments and deadlines, and to delegate effectivelyExperience in supervising, mentoring, coaching and training others

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSTo be considered as a Tax Senior Accountant candidate you must meet the following minimum requirements:Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in accounting, tax, or related fieldMinimum of two years of progressively responsible experience with a public accounting firmHold a current and valid CPA license, or have completed the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exams and be actively working toward obtaining the licenseApplicant will be required to submit to a criminal background check upon receipt of a conditional offer*Consideration of qualified candidates with arrest and conviction records will be in a manner consistent with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act
