Job Description:PURPOSEOversee the application of technology for construction and shared services team workflows. Focused on incremental improvement to technology implementations. Efforts are inclusive of technology integration, process improvement, and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC).RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and execute an operational technology strategy aligned with the overall technology strategy.Oversee the maintenance and optimization of operational technology including project management tools, VDC tools, and other operational software.Ensure technology solutions are effectively integrated into construction projects.Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.Lead and mentor a team of technology and VDC professionals.Develop and manage the operations technology budget, including forecasting of future expenses and planning for cost recovery.Develop and execute a VDC strategy aligned with the overall operational strategy.Conduct process improvement consulting work with internal teams to improve effectiveness.Facilitate training and support for project team members for the use of new construction technology tools.Work with project teams to develop and maintain project specific technology plans.Ensure that workflows needed to execute a project are supported through company technology.Act as subject matter expert for technology team on application of construction technology to construction specific workflows.Act as subject matter expert for project teams on use of construction technology.Document and communicate industry trends.Serve as a main point of contact for technology processes, tools and related issues for Fortis, subcontractors, clients, design teams and other project participants.Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position’s and team’s objectives.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.Experience in operations roles in construction.Experience in construction technology.Experience with VDC workflows.Understanding of all facets of the construction business including pre-construction, VDC, lean, sustainability, scheduling, estimating and operations.Understanding of construction software.Leadership and management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong presentation skills.Must possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Fortis policy.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSSelf-starter with the drive to continue education in technology and construction.Demonstrated ability to build relationships with all individuals on a project site.Strategic planning skills.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAble to visit and walk project sites with project teams.Stand or walk for extended periods of time.Lift or move equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, work boots, and high visibility vests.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTSAll Fortis positions require some level of driving.Ability to travel between company and client sites (up to 15% of time).The above description is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements for the performance of this job; it is not to be construed as a complete statement of duties, responsibilities or requirements.
