Sr. Software Developer

Description:The Sr. Software Developer will assist in the development and maintenance of our corporate applications, both internal and external tools, and assisting with our website development and other customer-facing products. The range and scope of this position will be technical design, programming, testing and deployment of web-based and traditional applications and services.Requirements:Develop technical solutions that conform both to customer requirements and company software development standards.Must have a good balance of experience and skills in several front-end and/or back-end technologies, including HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, .NET framework technologies (C#, C++), SQL, Web Services and associated technology.Continuously expand industry and technical knowledge through participation in internal VHA training and/or external training programs.Provide post implementation support including monitoring application performance and debugging existing code.Research and evaluate alternative development solutions, including programming languages and development platforms.Support ongoing NetSuite administration including:Implement changes in conformance with change control policy.Manage user acceptance tasks, including testing documents.Manage work orders that describe particular issues, software bugs or problems.Position Requirements:Education & Certification:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field; alternatively, an Associate's Degree in those disciplines plus two years work experience in web development roles or no degree with at least 7 years work experience.Certifications and training in Microsoft products a plus.Knowledge & Experience:Experience in all phases of the SDLC.Experience with at least one software development methodology (e.g. Waterfall, CMMI, Scrum, etc.).Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) techniques and best practices.Experience with one or more Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) (preferably Visual Studio 2008/2010).Experience with Model-View-Controller (MVC) and AJAX frameworks (preferably the ASP .NET MVC 2 framework).Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 database.Experience using C++, #, Visual Basic or Java.Experience with ORM (Object Relational Mapping) software (preferably ADO.NET or LINQ).Understanding of web server infrastructure (IIS7/IIS7.5).Proficient with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, Microsoft Web Services, ODBC/ODC and other related technologies.Experience with implementing application front-end design, following approved design themes and standards.Experience using Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).Experience working with ASP.NET, .NET platform libraries, Web Services.Minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience working in a team environment.Experience documenting and maintaining configurations and process information.Ability to read Entity-Relationship (E-R) diagrams and other UML diagrams.Personal Attributes:Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.Excellent documentation skills.Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.Strong customer service orientation.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.Able to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment.Ability to think outside the box.Less than 25% travel required.To apply for this position please put in the subject "Job ID # 1709".
