It is a results-oriented organization that seeks people who not only embrace these values but who thrive in teams and want to work in a dynamic environment.At the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard, the HVAC Technician is a specialized role focused on ensuring the optimal operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems within a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment. This HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, playing a vital role in maintaining the precise environmental conditions required for cutting-edge scientific research. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and fixing HVAC system issues, conducting routine maintenance and inspections, calibrating control systems, ensuring proper indoor air quality, and responding promptly to emergency situations. The technician will collaborate closely with research personnel to meet specific laboratory and facility needs, adjusting environmental conditions to facilitate groundbreaking studies in immunology, infectious diseases, and related fields.Job Duties:Monitors, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, resets, and repairs equipment, machinery, and/or systems supporting the Ragon Institute. These systems include but are not limited to machine rooms, HVAC Systems, refrigeration systems, fire alarm systems, nitrogen, oxygen, and medical vacuum systems.Documents all work requests and work performed on the CMMS system.Performs assigned shift readings and processes appropriate documentation.Responds to emergency codes and building system alarms.Responds to service requests as dispatched via the Engineering Office or direct page.Resets fire alarm system, HVAC Equipment, and generator equipment after failures.Responds to emergencies such as chiller, cooling tower, and refrigeration alarms.Provides assistance to all trades as required.Services refrigeration system and mechanical equipment pertaining to chillers, towers, pumps, air handlers, steam, and condensate systems, as well as water treatment and energy conservation mechanisms.Performs other related duties as assigned.Must be able to lift and/or move objects weighing up to or more than 50 pounds.Openness to varied work schedules, including potential overtime, overnight, holiday, and weekend shifts is required. A fixed shift will be determined upon hire based on operational needs.Minimum Requirements:Minimum degree and field of knowledge:

High school diplomaYears experience required:

1-3 years’ experience.Journeyman HVAC license highly preferred.EPA 608 is highly preferred.NATE certification preferred.BMS experience preferred.Asset management & CMMS experience.Computer experience and keyboarding skills.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Effective verbal and written English communication skills.Massachusetts General Hospital is an Affirmative Action Employer.
