Description: This position will be responsible for overseeing, developing, analyzing, and improving all key technologies in company products. The role will focus on the scientific and hands-on application of principles in the field of electrostatic systems, high voltage, battery and charger systems, BLDC motors and controllers, analog and digital circuits, firmware, and other technological advances within the product category.
The Sr EE and Technologist will use their technical background and expertise to manage internal and external resources to create and validate new designs and solve technical problems with proper root cause analysis tools on existing products. This role requires cross-functional and collaborative work across multiple disciplines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Evaluate, assess, design & develop technologies and enhancements in the field of electrostatics, high voltage charging, rechargeable battery systems, analog and digital circuits, DC motors and controllers, and firmware as a systems approach. - Evaluate systems to increase efficacy, efficiency, and enhance product/user interaction. - Create new methods and standards to validate performance and reliability of these systems in the lab and in a real-world environment. - Build a claims substantiation database based on ongoing improvements and findings. - Build and/or acquire testing equipment and validate test procedures with internal and external products. - Partake in and lead design reviews. - Develop and document test procedures, execute testing following quality standards, and report results. - Work with cross-functional teams (Product Development, Test Lab, Marketing, Manufacturing, etc.) and participate in collaborative meetings between Asian and USA teams. - Perform root cause analysis, identification, and implementation of corrective actions. - Update project tracking documents and provide progress reports to management. - Maintain and manage the use of controlled files in PDM software (BOM's, CAD, testing documentation, reports, SOPs, etc.). - Conduct research for continual improvements and testing methods per Warranty/Market, incorporating feedback from product marketing. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or commensurate experience required; Master's in relevant field a plus. - 5 years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience in consumer or commercial product fields with the technologies described. - Ability to apply science, engage in research, and collaborate with SMEs. - Prior work experience with high-volume manufacturing and assembly, preferably in Asia and/or Mexico. - Basic mechanical knowledge of common high-volume products such as power tools, appliances, or industrial equipment is a plus. - Understanding of QCQA testing and inspections. - Self-motivated and self-directed with strong time management skills. - Agile and highly flexible to support a demanding industry with the ability to handle multiple projects. - Data-driven with excellent problem-solving skills. - Detail-oriented, organized, and disciplined with files and data handling. - Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and global partners. - Proactive self-starter that takes initiative with the ability to work independently. - Must be personable with excellent communication and listening skills. - Strong sense of personal accountability, responsibility, and ownership. - Capable of working efficiently and savvy with technology, including MS Office and PDM/PLM software. - Assembly fixture, mold, and tool design experience is highly desirable.
