As part of the Data Services organization, we are chartered to build a net new fully managed OCI Cloud service. Many use cases that customers try to address require multiple data services, and today customers must bear the burden of error-prone IAM policy setup among other things to have functioning applications. The new service will bring together multiple data services (e.g., OCI Data Flow – serverless Spark service, OCI Data Integration – visual ETL service, and others) under a single pane of glass with a highly evolved user experience, where users can easily implement their use cases and eliminate potential error-prone policy setup.We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to help us lead and build components of the new service while keeping some of the current live customer-facing services performing at their best, both functionally and operationally. The ideal candidate should thrive in a large geographically distributed team and have the hunger to drive impactful results on established schedules while maintaining sanity for themselves and their team.Qualifications
We are looking for an individual with experience in:Leading engineering teams that have delivered successful products and services.Dealing with cloud services and establishing operational excellence.Setting the technical direction.Building high-performing geographically distributed engineering teams.Coaching, mentoring, and developing top talent.Outstanding communication skills and the ability to prioritize.Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the entire organization.Developing strategic plans to accomplish technical and business objectives with leadership chain, team, and customers, and establishing partnerships as needed.Big Data systems like Apache Spark, Apache Ranger, Apache Hive, and other related open-source products.Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree (or Bachelor's degree and additional experience) in Computer Science or equivalent.10+ years of experience in software development.5+ years of experience in leading teams in cloud/enterprise-level initiatives.Experience in software design and coding in a modern programming language.Experience developing distributed systems and understanding of scale, security, reliability, and performance.Responsibilities
As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging, or designing software applications, operating systems, and databases according to provided design specifications. You will build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.About Us
