Detailed Description:

The Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures in the College of Arts and Sciences at University of San Diego (USD) is hiring an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Chinese to begin Fall 2024. This is a non-tenurable, benefit-based full-time position with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance.

The position carries a 4-4 teaching load with a 3-4 load in the first year to support pedagogical development. It is expected that the candidate will collaborate with the program director to update course materials and curriculum as needed. The candidate is expected to participate in program related cultural events and may have an opportunity to advise the student organization.

Job Requirements:

The applicants are expected to have a PhD or be at the ABD stage in a field related to Chinese studies, and a background in linguistics or second language acquisition is considered desirable. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in teaching Chinese language and cultural courses at all levels in a university setting.
