We provide underwriting, financial advisory, and securities brokerage services to individual, institutional, corporate, and governmental clients, predominantly in the Midwest region of the United States.JOB SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for preparing accurate accounting and financial information for the broker-dealer in accordance with GAAP, FINRA, MSRB, and SEC rules and regulations. Duties include supporting financial operations through preparation of daily inventory monitoring and reconciliations, cash management, supporting month-end close process including producing monthly incentive calculations and supporting Controller in monthly regulatory filings, preparing annual financial statements, financial analysis, assisting with annual audit, maintaining effective SOX controls, special projects, and process and procedure development and improvement.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupport all regular accounting operational functions including month-end accounting, reconciliation, financial statement reports for internal and external usePreparation of monthly incentive calculationsPreparation of annual financial statementsOversee accounts payable and accounts receivableSupport the annual audits by internal and external auditorsProvide management with financial information vital to the decision-making processContribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE3+ years of accounting or related experience requiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA preferredBroker-dealer or financial services industry experience preferredStrong understanding of and experience in US GAAP, accounting rules and guidelinesKnowledge of SEC, FINRA, and MSRB regulationsKnowledge of securities industry processesBasic understanding of internal controlsIntermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite with advanced proficiency in ExcelStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of an organizationStrong critical reasoning and analytical skills with quantitative and problem-solving abilitiesStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and prioritization capabilitiesJOB EXPECTATIONSMust have or obtain FINRA Series 27 or 28 within 120 days of hireRegular and reliable attendance requiredBENEFITSWe offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees and their families including medical and dental plan; 401k plan including company matching; firm funded life and disability insurance.Direct applicants only please, no agencies.Colliers provides equal employment opportunity to all persons.
