A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Counsel for their Los Angeles, CA office with the following responsibilities and qualifications:Job Overview:The Projects (Regulatory) Counsel will focus on managing regulatory aspects related to the development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation of energy projects nationwide, with a specialized emphasis on the renewable energy sector. This role entails handling power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid and transmission issues.Duties:Provide legal counsel on regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operationDraft and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake agreementsAdvise on interconnection agreements and grid and transmission issuesReview and analyze project finance or project documents for energy transactionsCollaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirementsRequirements:Minimum of 4 years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulationsExposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactionsKnowledge of renewable energy industry regulations is preferredEducation:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolCertifications:Admission to the Bar in California or eligibility for admissionSkills:Strong legal research and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficientlyProficiency in legal research databases and Microsoft Office SuiteExperience:4+ years of legal experience with respect to FERC electricity regulations, preferably with exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions.
