Position DescriptionAttend Regular Academic Team (AT) Meetings:

Familiarize yourself with the Academic Team policies and procedures.

Receive updates and direction from Administration.

Share updates for the department.

Brainstorm as a team on topics.

Approve curriculum changes.

Provide guidance for Math Department schoolwide.

Curriculum feedback.

Scope and sequence.

Model teaching.

Vertical alignment.

Meetings:

Meet regularly with SR School Head.

Plan regular department meetings.

Meet with SL and Grammar Math Leads (as needed).

Provide oversight of SR Teachers.

Weekly:

Review lesson plans and gradebooks (monitor giving of tests/review sheets; percentages, etc.).

Receive copies of all class-wide communication.

Model leadership to teachers.

Occasionally:

Provide informal and formal teacher observations.

Check testing calendar to provide feedback to teachers regarding their use of this resource.

Communicate with parents as needed on behalf of the department.

Yearly:

Review report cards for each class prior to distribution.

Oversee drafting or revision of syllabus and course guidebook for each class in the department each year.

Mentor SR Teachers.

Onboard new SR teachers by meeting with them in the summer to review curriculum, attending the New Teacher Training in August, and checking with them regularly throughout the year.

Touch base with teachers in your department to:

Review goals.

Discuss pedagogy.

Encourage and pray with them.

Communicate with Teachers and Admin.

Cascade info from AT meetings to teachers.

Bring info from teachers back to AT meetings.

Budget for Department:

Proposed budget for the following school year due in October.

Approve all purchases in the department, according to budget.

Admissions:

Grade and provide feedback on math placement tests for applicants schoolwide.

Training:

Research and provide training for teachers in the math department.

Attend occasional educators’ conferences such as SCL and ACCS.
