Who are we looking for? Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting in the Corporate Accounting department of Finance. Corporate Accounting is the team that is responsible for a timely and accurate financial close and assisting with the preparation of financial reporting. We do this by continually strengthening our processes and analytical reviews and developing our business insights and knowledge to mitigate risk and mistakes. As a key member of Corporate Accounting, you will mentor your team and be responsible for key areas of the accounting close, reviews and analysis.Your Responsibilities:Mentor and lead your team of 3 accountants.Assist in corporate accounting activities and functions, including domestic accounting close, analysis and reconciliations, establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.Review financial data, cash flow schedules and footnotes to support internal reporting and external reporting for the quarterly 10Q’s and 10K’s.Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and internal policies, including updating and adherence to critical controls and participation in testing by internal and external audit staff.Oversee stock-based compensation accounting, equity, and revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, recording and analyzing billing, accounts receivable, and debt.Play a key role in upgrading our technology and processes, including our finance transformation and ERP implementation project, while supporting and training our people.Develop relationships and collaborate across the Finance organization, including Billing, Development Support, Legal, Accounts Receivable, Openings, Corporate Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, Human Resources, and Business Operations.Inspire your team, listen and mentor, positively impacting your team’s careers and goals.Your Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with an active license (or you are a candidate).At least 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience (with 6 years of supervisory experience) in a combination of public accounting or accounting roles.Familiarity with any general ledger software system and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.Knowledgeable in operational accounting and U.S. GAAP; financial reporting and/or accounting policy experience is a plus.Experience with financial statement audits or working for a public company subject to financial statement audits and SOX audits.Experience with system implementations, data analysis, and improvement projects is a huge plus.Experience with stock-based compensation and equity accounting is not required but would be a plus.Your Work Location: As our Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting you will be based in our brand new, beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, Maryland. We’re located directly across from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.
