San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department
is seeking experienced applicants to fill positions as
Deputy Sheriff's
who perform a variety of law enforcement functions, depending upon the level of experience and area of assignment, in a correctional facility, with the courts, on patrol, or in crime investigations.NOTE:
This
Deputy Sheriff - Lateral
recruitment targets applicants who have experience as a Peace Officer and possess a current CA POST Basic Certificate or higher.Applicants who have
completed
a CA POST Accredited Basic Academy but have
NOT
been employed and received a CA POST Basic Certification may qualify for Deputy Sheriff-PreService.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTDeputy Sheriff's must:Be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or G.E.D.Be a United States citizen.Pass San Bernardino County's safety, medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, including a drug test.Be fingerprinted and pass a background investigation. Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony.Have a valid California driver license.Be available for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.Participate in mandated in-service training.Uniform Allowance:
Incumbents receive a yearly uniform allowance of $1,200/year.Experience:
One (1) year of law enforcement experience as a Deputy Sheriff, Police Officer, Deputy Marshal, or District Attorney Investigator.- AND -Certificate:
Must possess a current California POST Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced Certificate. All applicants not currently employed by a California law enforcement agency must have been so employed within the last three (3) years or possess a current California POST Requalification Certificate.
Copies of all certificates must be attached to this application.The ideal candidate
will have high personal and professional standards, good decision-making skills, and be mentally and physically ready to handle the rigors of academy life.Examination:
There will be a
competitive evaluation
of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. It is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible, as resumes will not be reviewed in lieu of the application materials.Application Procedure:
