Responsibilities General Purpose: Works closely with peer groups to support an assigned area or function. Develops requirements and designs documentation along with use cases, based on user input. Designs workflow and business processes, completes application configuration/development and creates testing strategies. Tasks may also include administration, maintenance, and security compliance analysis of University business systems. Participates as part of a team that supports planning and implementation of new systems or functions and ensures that quality application maintenance and upgrades are delivered. In the Research Systems IT Functional Analyst role, this person will support multiple functions across the research administrative systems (Huron Research Solutions). This includes the Institutional Review Board, Grant Awards and Agreements and Reporting as requested. In addition to solving complex functional issues/problems, deploying new capabilities, enhancing the solution and ensuring that the environment is upgraded on a periodic basis, the resource will also need maintain a positive working relationship with business representatives ensuring that their needs are always fulfilled. Responsibilities: Works with, and may be asked to lead, user communities and support team members, to understand and document business requirements, create functional or solution documentation, translates requirements into configurable software components and rules to solve complex business problems. Completes assigned application configuration or development deliverables, and may be asked to lead teams in the completion and testing of their assigned deliverables. Participates in, and may be asked to lead, user community events to promote and communicate project goals, timeframe and high-level changes and conduct training. Participates in, and may be asked to lead, smaller systems projects or enhancements, delivering upon assigned tasks in alignment with project plans and estimates. Provides, and may lead, business analysis and support services for non-production and production environments, including requirements analysis, configuration, testing and implementation. Answers end user requests for support, including troubleshooting, break/fix support, researching and solving problems, and serves as an escalation point to answer end user requests. Works with, and may lead, various technical and functional personnel as needed to fulfill requests for support services, including validation of system fixes, enhancements, interfaces, reports, configurations, upgrades, regulatory updates and implementation of new modules and features. Participates in, and may be asked to lead, regular team retrospective events with a continuous improvement mindset. Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities and best practices, logs requests and delivers upon items that improve the system solution, user or team productivity. Shares knowledge, provides cross-training, peer support and actively participates in, and occasionally leads, team meetings. Participates in, and may be asked to lead, the estimation and planning of future work plans, and the development of Business Continuity Plans/Procedures. Leads coordination of communications to the user community when needed, which document and enhance business processes and provide supporting documentation. Develops procedures used to maintain applications, programs and systems. Maintains a deep and broad knowledge of the assigned functional area, University policies and procedures, related industry standards, best practices, regulations, changes in relevant federal and state laws, issues and developments, and related technologies. Participates in external function specific communities of practice, gaining and sharing functional knowledge. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Associates Degree in related discipline Bachelors degree in related discipline (preferred) 1 year of relevant experience Equivalent combination of education and experience Experience in higher education field, medical, technical or healthcare setting (preferred). Strong attention to detail; ability to think critically and to develop creative solutions to problems Strong communication skills; strong organizational and follow-up skills; ability to independently prioritize work. Skilled in using Microsoft software, specifically Office related collaboration tools. Experience with project management methodologies, including Agile, from planning through implementation. Ability to provide after-hours on-call support. Familiarity with Meaningful Use (ARRA) as well as HIPAA, JCAHO and other regulations. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the jobs compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
