Lab Course - $75.48 up to $103.03 per hour; Lecture Course - $87.88 up to $118.85.The Position

The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Engineering. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.Duties and Responsibilities include:Teach college courses in Engineering.A strong interest and ability to teach both the lecture and the laboratory portions of courses is required.Assist in curriculum revisions and new course development, consult with students during office and lab hours, and maintain expertise in current technologies.Serve as a member of division and college committees.Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a Master’s in any field of engineering OR Bachelor’s in any field of engineering AND Master’s in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology OR the equivalent.• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Recent successful experience in teaching or preparation to teach college-level courses in engineering.Knowledge of successful teaching techniques.Understanding and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college.Ability to use current technologies as they apply to the teaching of engineering.Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences.Conditions of Employment

Prior to employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:1. Submit official transcripts.2. Submit verifications of prior employment.3. Satisfactory references.4. Successfully clear background checking process.5. Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.6. Approval of employment by the SMCCCD Board of Trustees.7. Provide a certificate of Tuberculosis exam for initial employment.8. Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer.EEO Statement
