Joining our Project Development team at Deriva Energy as an Associate Director is an exciting, dynamic, and diverse job that will have significant impact starting day 1. You will lead existing projects in our development pipeline, as well as originate new prospects to grow our pipeline. We expect you to learn, grow, find ways to positively impact the organization. As an Associate Director you will work with a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) in originating and developing projects. Working cross-functionally with our talented engineers, underwriters, environmental scientists, contract managers, marketing professionals, operators and legal team is what makes the development team run. Job Overview:
This role will reside in the Greenfield Development organization, focused on utility-scale solar and solar storage projects in the East region. The Associate Director will work under an experienced Development Director that owns the regional development strategy and execution plan. The function of the Development Associate Director - East Region is to lead development on a pipeline of early, mid, and late-stage solar and hybrid projects across the PJM and Southeast markets. This role is best suited for an experienced developer interested in taking on more responsibility and autonomy for project outcomes by leading investment opportunities across multiple markets with the backing of a leading owner-operator.
Responsibilities:
Advance and de-risk utility-scale solar and solar storage development projectsManage project development tasks and coordinate closely with subject matter experts on engineering, real estate, interconnection, environmental, permitting, community relations, equipment supply, tax and marketing effortsAssist the Deriva early-stage and land acquisition teams in originating and vetting new projects in the East RegionCoordinate with development team and third parties to address full scope of development process - due diligence and fatal flaw analysis, resource assessment, site control, legal, interconnection, community and government affairs, permitting, marketing, construction support, and project financeTrack project progress toward development goals and key project milestones.Manage project schedules and budgetsManage consultants and vendorsRepresent Deriva publicly in community meetings, permitting hearings, and industry conferences.Coordinate with project landowners and community stakeholdersMonitor state and county regulatory requirements and obtain necessary entitlementsAssist the Deriva development team with strategic planning for development goalsDevelop positive working relationships using effective oral and written communication skills while representing the company in a positive and professional mannerStrive to continually improve processes, procedures and performanceBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or other related field and minimum ten (10) years relevant work experienceDesired Qualifications:
Master's degreeUtility scale renewables and energy storage development experienceExperience with interconnection procedures in PJM and Southeastern marketsExtensive experience collaborating with and leading teams of SMEsFinancial and business acumen, business strategy, executive level presentationExcellent problem-solving skills, optimistic self-starter, entrepreneurialStrong knowledge of renewable generation technologies and policy incentives, wholesale electricity markets, interconnection, real estate contracts, tax abatementsStrong written and interpersonal communication skillsProblem solving, negotiation, project management and implementation skillsWorking Conditions:
This role is intended to be located at the Deriva Headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. Strategic locations in the East region may also be considered for more experienced candidates.Up to 30% travel should be anticipated to conduct site visits and manage existing development projects.Benefits:
