link/button.This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.Position Summary

The Adjunct, Nursing Lab promotes student learning about specific clinical tasks through visual and kinesthetic modalities. Instructors not only teach the task but the rationale behind the task and emphasize safety points. Adjunct, Nursing Lab will also assist with simulations, tutoring, remediation, medication calculation, clinical referrals and Nursing Care Plan assistance.The Adjunct, Nursing Lab divides students into small groups to practice a procedure or provide individual supervised practices. This involves practicing on other students when appropriate, for example, when students are learning to take vital signs. Students also practice on mannequins when they are learning the process for urinary catheterization. Students may also have the opportunity to practice on specially built clinical simulation devices. The Adjunct, Nursing Lab gives feedback as needed. In addition to helping them practice, this process also helps them build confidence in their hands-on nursing skills.After students learn specific clinical skills, the Adjunct, Nursing Lab will assess them while they perform a return demonstration (a demonstration of that skill). The Adjunct, Nursing Lab may be required to check off their demonstration against specific criteria (Skills Checklist) and use equipment to assess their skills.The skills lab grade is pass/fail based on successful demonstration of the assigned skills for the course.Specific Skills Being Taught and Evaluated

Personal Hygiene and patient mobilityMedication Administration- Parental and Non-Parental MedicationsIV access and medication administrationCatheter skills- Foley Insertion and Removal, Straight Catheter Insertion and external catheter careAirway management including Tracheostomy Care and suctioningEnteral feedings and Medication administrationDiabetes management and Administering InsulinInfection control including Handwashing and Personal Protective EquipmentSurgical asepsis, Wound Care and Drain MaintenanceAssessment Skills (Adult and pediatric)Elimination Skills- enemas and ostomiesNasogastric tube insertion and removalSpecimen collectionsMinimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Nursing.Must possess coaching and team-building skills to foster supportive working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders.Must be able to work independently and problem solve. Effective interpersonal relationships and the ability to promote student and program success in a team environment.Experience with technology and/or computer hardware or software and the ability to learn new technology and software programs quickly.Requires some flexibility regarding scheduled hours, may include some weekends and evenings. Physical ability to lift, move, maintain and set up computer, audio-visual and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience.Higher education/college-level teaching experience in Nursing.Job Duties

Comply with institutional, school, departmental, and course policies.Work effectively and collaboratively with nursing faculty, staff and students.Provide instruction and supervision (direct and indirect) to nursing students to provide high quality, evidence-based care in a healthcare or other setting.Work collaboratively with lead course faculty to meet course and student learning outcomes.Evaluate student clinical performance and provide feedback to students and course faculty based on course learning outcomes and clinical skills.Perform other duties as assigned.Documents Needed to Apply
