Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Lab Course - $75.48 up to $103.03 per hour. Lecture Course - $87.88 up to $118.85.Position Type:

The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Philosophy. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available.Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions include the following:Teach classes as assigned from the regular Philosophy Department curriculum.Assist in curriculum assessment and revisions and new course development.Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula.Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a Master’s or above in philosophy OR Bachelor’s in philosophy AND Master’s or above in humanities or religious studies OR the equivalent.Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The screening committee will select for interview candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, give evidence of any or all of the following:Recent successful experience in teaching or preparation to teach college-level courses in philosophy.Understanding and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college.Knowledge of the use of technology in teaching and philosophy.Ability to use and develop teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration.Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities.Conditions of Employment
