Dean, College of Arts and HumanitiesJob Status : ExemptPosition SummaryHouston Christian University seeks Adjunct Professors to join the HCU Honors College with the ability to lead seminar discussion classes. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Adjunct needs change from semester to semester.Job Responsibilities:Utilize a course syllabus for each course and follow established departmental and institutional guidelines for seminar classes.Lead and guide discussion seminars on a variety of texts (literary, historical, philosophical).Evaluate students' notes periodically by established means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives.Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.Perform other duties as needed.Qualifications:MA or PhD in History, Literature, Philosophy, or a similar field.Experience with Classical education and Socratic/seminar discussions preferred.Teaching experience preferred.Ability to teach survey courses on historical, literary, and philosophical texts in a manner consistent with the University’s Christian mission and values.Additional InformationHouston Christian University is an independent, private Christian liberal arts institution with a diverse student body.
