Lab Course - $75.48 up to $103.03 per hour. Lecture Course - $87.88 up to $118.85.The Position

The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in the Photonics and Laser Technology (PALT) certification program. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available.Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses offered in the PALT certification curriculumAssist in curriculum revisions and new course developmentConsult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hoursAbility to deliver classes in various modalities (in-person, online and hybrid)Minimum Qualifications

Possession of any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of related professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of related professional experience OR the equivalentDemonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staffKnowledge, Skills and Abilities

Academic preparation for, or successful experience in, teaching optics, particularly geometrical and wave optics, at the college levelExperience in theory and hands-on aspects of laser use, operation, and applications of laser technologyExperience with commercial optics and engineering modeling and computational software like ZEMAX and MATLAB (or OCTAVE)Experience with optical and photonic components and devices, optical coating, and optical fiber technologiesExperience with advanced concepts in laser and photonics technologyAbility to develop curriculum and content for lecture and lab-based coursesKnowledge of successful teaching techniques that engage students in their own learning, motivate students to develop higher-order thinking skills and ensure consistent and appropriate monitoring of student progressCommitment to maintaining currency in the discipline, and related technology appropriate to instructionAbility to communicate effectively in both written and spoken languageAbility to work independently and as part of a teamConditions of Employment
