Come join Stantec, a Top 10 global design firm in our Federal Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, Urban, and interior Design services.The mechanical project lead draws on strong buildings engineering knowledge and industry experience to consistently produce project deliverables that meet project requirements and project manager and client expectations. Work consists of advanced mechanical design for the built environment including but not limited to HVAC, piping and plumbing, and the use of digital practice technology such as Revit as well as mechanical engineering specific computer applications.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDesign mechanical systems for the built environment with limited direction from the Project principal-in-charge.Collaborate with project managers and supporting design staff as part of a coordinated design team.Support project requirements including basis-of design narratives, opinions-of-probable-costs estimates, drawing documentation, systems design and technical specifications.Research and present mechanical system options and communicate associated impacts to project goals.Prepare required calculations to meet project requirements.Handle development of design and document preparation in written and computer-aided design formats.Resolve design conflicts and provide recommendations to address issues and add value.Perform field investigations and analyze existing conditions to develop comprehensive engineering solutions.Assist in system studies such as Energy Life Cycle Cost Analysis.Participate in the development of design staff through mentorship and training.Delegate work to design and production support staff.Review drawings and research code issues to comply with regulations.Attend project design coordination meetings with other disciplines, clients, and stakeholders.Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to address challenges and develop practical designs.Create and edit technical specifications.Interpret energy modeling results and impacts to proposed mechanical systems.Work within project budgets and schedules to help project manager meet financial and schedule goals.Provide construction administration support such as reviewing contractor RFI’s and performing construction observation.Collaborate with practice and market leaders to disseminate technical knowledge.Maintain and expand knowledge of technologies, trends, and markets.Participate in meetings and projects that support studio and firm-wide goals.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsDeep knowledge of buildings mechanical engineering, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and controls.Ability to prepare and review detailed drawings with minimal supervision.Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines.Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.Ability to apply logic and organizational skills to structure concepts into deliverables.Familiarity with sustainable design principles.Knowledge of specialty engineering applications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling software, particularly Revit and AutoCAD.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred. Minimum of 8 years of related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Auxiliary QualificationsQualifications listed below provide additional depth and value to the role:Familiarity with sustainable design principles.LEED Green Associate or LEED AP.WELL certified.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee.Salary Range(s):$108,000 - $162,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI.
