DescriptionThe School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University seeks a virtual production, real-time visualization, or visual effects artist for a tenure-track position in one of the most innovative cinema programs in the country. Position begins in September 2024.DePaul University is located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant Loop and Lincoln Park communities. In 2023, the School of Cinematic Arts was ranked 14th in Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the top film schools in the country. The Visual Effects and Animation programs ranked 16th by Animation Career Review and was named by Variety as one of the top film schools in the world. There are currently over 2,000 majors enrolled in our degree programs in Film & Television and Animation with concentrations in visual effects among 15 other disciplines. Our associated programs in Game Design and Game Programming are also highly ranked nationally and the college is an Unreal Academic Partner.DePaul has advanced the field of education for virtual production for several years and is expanding its curriculum, faculty, and technology to be the leadership institution for virtual production training and research in the Midwest. Resources include a virtual production studio among six sound stages at Cinespace Studios, the Jarvis Center for Innovation and Collaboration, two sound studios, color and editing suites, industry-standard camera packages, a grip truck, two green screen stages, motion capture systems, a television studio, and two theaters. School of Cinematic Arts .Job responsibilities include teaching, curricular development, service, supervising student/faculty projects, and continued creative activities and/or scholarship in the field.Positions are contingent upon available budgetary resources.QualificationsIdeal candidates for the position will have extensive experience in one of the following areas: virtual production, visual effects, visualization, and/or game engines. Experience with in-camera visual effects is highly desired. College-level teaching experience is also desired. Applicants with success in working with diverse student bodies are strongly encouraged to apply.
