page of our website.The primary duty of this position is to perform plant collection, propagation, transplanting, pruning, spraying, fertilization, cultivation and maintenance of the campus arboretum nursery and plant collection; perform nursery operations and maintenance work as well as arboretum recordkeeping, documentation and labeling tasks; apply various chemicals to control insects and plant disease, control weeds; and perform other related duties as assigned.To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:Specialized Experience:

ONE YEAR

of work experience which demonstrates knowledge of the following:methods of vegetative and seed plant propagation such as air-layering, grafting, budding, cuttage, seed storage, cross-pollination;application of insecticides, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides;the care and maintenance of plants;principles and practices of nursery work;identification, prevention, eradication, and control of plant diseases, weeds and insect pests;soil conditions, characteristics and nutrients;equipment, materials and facilities used in nursery work;plants indigenous to the area;and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to keep simple records.Certification:

Some positions may require applicants to obtain a certificate as a Commercial Applicator of Restricted Pesticides, Category 3 - Ornamental and Turf Pest Control, and obtain medical clearance, training, and fit-testing to use a respirator,

within six months from the date of hire .Driver's License:
