CompetitiveDutiesVacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: SB/SE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER EXAMThe following are the duties of this position at the full working level:Conducts independent examinations of complex estate and gift returns requiring extensive tax law research, investigation, and analysis.Determines issues and audit techniques needed to resolve issues, analyzes transactions, and evaluates the fair market value of assets for assigned returns.Coordinates with SBSE Counsel employees to develop audit techniques, legal arguments, and litigation strategy for significant cases.Assists SBSE Counsel in trial preparation for estate and gift tax cases.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentMust be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.Undergo a review of prior performance/conduct and an income tax verification.Must successfully complete a background investigation.Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process.QualificationsFederal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or Volunteer Service. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement

Knowledge of Legal Industry, including legal practices, federal codes and regulations, and application of complex legal principles to facts.Specialized Experience GS-11:

You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.Specialized Experience GS-12:

You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.Specialized Experience GS-13:

You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.Specialized Experience GS-14:

You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.Additional informationA 1-year probationary period is required.If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.This is a bargaining unit position.Please consider each location carefully when applying.
