Description8:30am – 5:00pm / Full Time / 40 Hours

Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist, the

Simulation Radiation Therapist

serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for simulation procedures. The simulation therapist requires a high level of clinical and technical planning abilities.

Staff in this role will work closely with the physician, physics, and dosimetry teams to ensure patients are positioned to generate the optimal treatment plan and to reduce variation in the daily set-up for the radiation treatment delivery. Conduct simulation procedures as directed by the radiation oncologist. Operate Computerized Tomography (CT) simulation unit and supporting equipment; Power injector, gating, model construction equipment. Create scanning protocols to optimize imaging quality. Ensure documentation (sim order/patient consent) is compliant with regulatory and department guidelines. Demonstrate continuous competency on an annual basis on all applicable equipment in the department. Support the team concept and departmental goals. Attend educational in-services as appropriate. Participate in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 3 years as a staff radiation therapist, 2 years working in the Emory Healthcare system.

Computerized Tomography (CT) simulation experience, CT certification preferred.

Certificate or degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
