page of our website. Supervises the operations of a complex functional unit in a correctional facility; and performs other duties as required. A position in this class is characterized by 24 hour responsibility for a fully developed, complex program of correctional services for offenders including such activities as diagnosis, classification, social casework, education, religion, recreation, medical, dental, psychological, and psychiatric services. To efficiently carry out these functions, a position at this level develops or recommends new standards, guides, and approaches in solving unusual or unprecedented problems and directs and coordinates the work of a staff of specialists. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Education:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in sociology, psychology, criminology, penology, criminal justice administration or other related behavioral science or criminal justice field. General Experience:

Two years of progressively responsible professional experience which demonstrated knowledge and application of the behavioral and social sciences as they relate to redirecting or rehabilitating persons with behavioral social problems. Specialized Experience:

One year of responsible professional experience in criminal justice or related social science program having as a major function the provision of rehabilitative/redirection services to law offenders. Such experience must have demonstrated the applicant's knowledge of the philosophy, principles, concepts and practices relating to criminal justice or allied offender rehabilitative/redirection programs. Supervisory Aptitude:

Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. Supervisory Aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion or regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities. Substitutions Allowed:
