As a Histotechnologist 2, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating research endeavors by collaborating with the scientific community at UCLA. Your primary responsibilities include:Processing formalin-fixed specimensEmbedding specimens in paraffin and fresh snap-frozen specimens in OCTSectioning paraffin and frozen sectionsStaining samples using various techniques including H&E, special stains, immunohistochemical, and immunofluorescence stainsPreparing solutions and maintaining laboratory equipmentConducting quality control procedures and evaluating the quality of sections and stainsKeeping detailed records of work performed and troubleshooting technical and equipment issuesSalary Range:
$55.70/hour - $72.05/hourQualifications
Histotechnologist (ASCP) certificationMust have at least 5 years of Histotech experienceProficiency in processing formalin-fixed specimens, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniquesStrong communication skills to interact with biomedical researchers, understand research protocols, and prepare sections for specialized studies such as molecular studies and laser capture microdissection (LCM)Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the highest quality of tissue samples
