The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.Role Description

The department is seeking a financial data experienced specialist who mainly focuses on data governance and control over data attributes/elements used for SMBC finance area, including US Regulatory Reporting. This role ensures that the regulatory reports to various regulatory agencies are prepared timely, accurately, and completely, while maintaining the quality of data used for the finance area. This function reports to the head of Regulatory Reporting Data Control department, focusing on initiatives to build various data governance activities. This requisition especially focuses on establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the data accountability and attestation process which was established under regulatory reporting transformation projects. This function requires communication and coordination with various internal business functions to identify data owners and associated business process controls and applicable transactional detail datasets. The role also involves continuously improving stronger regulatory reporting data governance, including continuous follow-ups with stakeholders, evaluating the data attestation outcomes, and enhancing data quality.Responsibilities

Facilitate data accountability and data ownership attestation performed by various stakeholders.Establish and maintain data governance and data quality controls in the finance area, including US regulatory reporting.Identify risks, associated data controls, drive control operationalization, and evaluate the control results.Work across teams to translate regulatory requirements into implementable data controls.Sustain an established regulatory reporting data attestation framework.Ensure data quality, governance, and control for various financial regulatory reports according to company policy and standards.Assist in building data-lineage, data quality effectiveness, data reconciliation, and various data quality controls.Facilitate project update communications and meetings, providing senior leadership with actionable information regarding the status of individual deliverables, work streams, and the overall program.Develop templates, guides, and other accelerators to enable team members to execute activities in a repeatable manner.Perform required documentation including policy, standards, procedures, data attestation, and results of data scoring, control assessment approaches, and others.Qualifications and Skills

7-12 years of experience in data quality, governance, and control of financial regulatory reporting.Experience in communicating with technical and business teams regarding periodic compliance on data controls. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Experience working on complex and cross-functional projects and data initiatives.Proficient IT skills including, but not limited to, various Microsoft applications (i.e., Power Apps), Alteryx, Power BI, or SQL are a plus.Familiarity with major regulatory reports including, but not limited to, FRY-9C, FFIEC 009, FRY-15, FR2052a, FFIEC 002, and FFIEC 019 and other US regulatory reports is preferred.Ability to analyze and assess data attributes according to various regulatory agencies' guidelines and instructions.Demonstrate ability to challenge the status quo and drive results.Knowledge of, or exposure to, various financial products, i.e., Loans, Deposits, Derivatives, Securities, Repos, etc.Team player with the ability to work independently.Experience with external or internal audit is a plus.Additional Requirements
