UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONCURRENT VACANCY IS IN THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENTMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; supplemented by four years of infrastructure Management or Network Management experience. Experience with Cisco Meraki switches including wireless access points strongly preferred. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Attention to detail and teamwork. Experience with network configurations (LAN, WAN, WLAN).Specific License or Certification Required:

Network certifications (CCNA, CCNP) preferred.Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

Must have knowledge of network control protocols (DHCP, QOS, POE, IPv4, HTTP, DNS, 802.11a/b/n/ac) and network management protocols (CDP, FTP, SNMP).Purpose of Classification:The purpose of the Network Engineer Senior is to ensure that the county's wired, wireless network, and telecom architecture and design provide a reliable and efficient network infrastructure that can meet the service level and operating level agreements, including wiring, network protocols, and firewall. Will work with support and operations teams to ensure that any network telecom issues and outages are resolved in a timely manner.Essential Functions:The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.Functions as team lead with design and implementation of work assignments; Monitor and maintain the county network, ensuring that the appropriate capacity and availability meet the needs of the departments; Manage the county's wireless network infrastructure which includes controllers, load balancers, access points, and VPNs; Responsible for installing, testing wired and wireless network monitoring tools and infrastructure components.Provide technical support for network and infrastructure issues reported by county employees; Troubleshoot and resolve network hardware/software issues and repair defective components; Occasional work after-hours to handle network issues.Work directly with county network and infrastructure vendors to review, monitor, and implement infrastructure components and service; Works with Asset/Configuration Manager for updates and Technical Architect to develop and maintain technical design, models, and documents that represent the current state of the county network and infrastructure.Performance Aptitudes:Data Utilization:
