This role will function on a rotating 10-hour schedule alongside 14 full-time Emergency Medicine Physicians and seven fellow Advanced Practice Providers. Night shifts are not currently required but may be added as needed. Two weekends (four shifts) per four week block are required.With an annual volume of more than 47,000 patients, the Emergency Department is well-staffed with an average of 58 hours of physician coverage and 40 hours of mid-level provider coverage daily. The newly built emergency room opened in October 2019 has 22 private rooms and 10 Fast Track treatment areas. Emergency Medicine (EM) PAs are employed by the hospital and receive a competitive benefits package, CME allowance, and paid time off. The Emergency Department is committed to delivering excellent, patient-focused care in a collegial atmosphere. Our affiliation with Rush University Medical Center allows for easy transfers of patients requiring tertiary care. Rush Oak Park Hospital is conveniently located 10 miles from downtown Chicago in a desirable residential neighborhood.The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed physician assistant who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush Oak Park Hospital patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the ROPH medical staff bylaws. The PA will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost-effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision, and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.Rush has over 400 APPs across the enterprise that provide comprehensive patient care each day autonomously and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. With 2 Directors of Advanced Practice and 27 Lead APPs across the system, Rush’s vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license.
