Licensed for 218 beds, it is a state-designated Level II trauma center and provides a wide continuum of services including neurosciences, women’s health, orthopedics, rehabilitation, surgical services, gastroenterology and oncology.Equipped with the latest technology and medical expertise, Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center is committed to delivering quality, personalized care, tailored to you. Wellstar North Fulton is a Level II Emergency Cardiac Care Center, Level II Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center.Role Summary:

The Vice President, Chief Operating Officer ("VP, COO") of North Fulton Medical Center location will report directly to the SVP and Hospital President. In the absence of the President, will be responsible for maintaining operations of the Medical Center. The management span of responsibility for this leader is diverse with broad organizational implications and complexity characterized by a large scope of responsibility. This leader is accountable for the achievement of objectives consistent with the Medical Center and System's mission, vision and strategic and operational plans, requiring direct oversight of some departments and direct interface and collaboration with all departments.As the VP, COO, this leader is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the Medical Center. This individual must foster effective collaboration between corporate, clinical and non-clinical departments, medical staff leadership, Medical Center outpatient leaders and other affiliated services to ensure an integrated approach to providing services to the communities served.The VP, COO will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Medical Center and assist with implementing the Medical Center's and System's strategic plan. This leader must be able to execute on strategy and ensure the organization operates efficiently while providing high quality, safe patient care. This individual ensures that systems, processes and procedures are in place and utilized to continuously improve the services, efficiency and outcomes of all departments. The VP, COO works closely with administration, corporate resources, and Medical Center leaders to ensure appropriate information is available to make sound operational decisions.Development and maintenance of strong positive relationships with team members, physicians, advanced practitioners, patients, and the public are priorities for this role. This individual participates as an active and supportive part of the Medical Center leadership team. As an integrated member of the leadership team, the VP, COO is key to continued success as WellStar enhances services and improves the patient experience.This leader will be a self-reliant, experienced executive who will manage the facilities day-to-day operations while keeping executives appropriately informed. The successful candidate will be an experienced executive of the highest integrity. As a key leader at the Medical Center, the next Vice President/Chief Operating Officer will play a pivotal role in defining and leading the future vision for the Medical Center and will be responsible for enhancing the organization's reputation as the premier patient-centered care Medical Center in the market. This executive must be innovative with a demonstrated ability to execute on strategies in a manner that ensures the organization will operate at maximum efficiency. This will include eliminating unnecessary cost while continuing to deliver high quality care. The COO will be involved in a variety of Wellstar committees and projects as requested.Key Selection Criteria:

Master’s Degree: Business, Healthcare Administration or related field required.Minimum 8 – 15 years of progressive management experience in a hospital/healthcare environment with exposure to matrix operating structures and experience with program development. Includes direct executive-level management of multiple departments, including functional strategic and financial planning. Preference exists for prior experience in a COO role or a Vice President role with P&L oversight for $100M in net revenue and an array of facility services.Experience in a system environment is strongly preferred as is experience in a highly competitive market given the competitiveness of the greater Atlanta market.Must exhibit high proficiency in the following:

Highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills; regulatory, financial analysis and business planning skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge and command of the principles of financial analysis, planning, operations, and human resources. Strong metrics-driven performance improvement background is important, as is the ability to coach leaders to higher levels of accountability and execution. The ability to use data to create accountability structures to drive success. The structure change at WellStar is expected to produce specific results. The VP, COO must be able to accumulate and analyze appropriate data and formulate actionable plans with staff to achieve goals.This individual should have the confidence to represent the system in formal and informal settings. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and apply data and other pertinent information to develop short and long-term goals.Proactively searches for and recommends opportunities to enhance services and revenue.
